Product Overview
Letterpress is printing the slow way. Each color is inked and pressed into the paper separately, and lining up several colors in a pattern this detailed takes real skill. The result is a card you can feel as well as see, with crisp lines pressed into soft, deckle-edged paper. The design nods to folk art and Scandinavian pattern work, so it suits the folk art lover, the design snob, and your aunt who frames things. It arrives in a clear box that makes a nice small gift on its own.
What Makes It Special
The design is based on the work of Dora de Pedery-Hunt, a Hungarian-born Canadian sculptor best known for her medals and coins. Her portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appeared on Canadian coins starting in 1990, which means her art has been in a lot of pockets. This one is meant for the mantel.
