Product Overview
Found in the wetlands of Maine, the great blue heron stands tall and wades gracefully through the water while it patiently waits for supper. Wayne Village Pottery makes its ornaments in the tradition of the early redware potters, who worked with the same kind of clay. Each critter in the collection is usually inspired by an encounter the potters had during the year. This heron's slim, flat profile hangs neatly on a tree, a window, or a wreath. It's a lovely gift for birders, lake people, and anyone who has stood very still at the water's edge hoping something would happen.
What Makes It Special
The great blue heron is the largest heron in North America. It can stand about four feet tall with a wingspan of up to six feet. You can spot one in flight by its neck, which it tucks into an S-curve, while cranes fly with theirs stretched straight out. Yours, thankfully, stays put on the branch.
