Product Overview
This whimsical stacking hedgehog set is inspired by the work of Austrian designer Walter Bosse, whose mid-century brass animal designs became beloved for their humor and modernist simplicity. His hedgehog ashtrays, originally produced in the 1950s and 60s, are especially iconic.
In a slightly unexpected twist of history, a Russian factory revived the design in the late 1970s. Why? We may never know. But we’re glad they did. This reproduction captures the playful spirit of Bosse’s original concept — five individual ashtrays that stack neatly beneath a proud little hedgehog perched on top.
While ashtrays themselves may feel like relics of another era, each piece still works on its own — or simply as a wonderfully odd and sculptural object for the home.
